1525 bleep holders are usually stage 3 trainees and should work with 1220 to assist with adult theatre work unless there is a mechanical thrombectomy.
If there is an MT, this will take place in IR on the first floor, usually in room 1 which has a bi-plane.
The interventional neuroradiology team will call you if there is an MT. MT is a time-sensitive intervention, but as our service has a wide catchment area, some patients will come from far away and you will have some time to prepare, while others will already be in our ED. The stroke team use Pando (available via usual app-stores) to disseminate information and referrals are usually made via Refer-A-Patient (access via Nasima Begum). Both of these can be useful in providing advance information.
IR is a remote area, so speak to 1220 before starting the case if think that you might need any assistance. Because treatment is time-critical, patient information is often limitted and few are starved.
