1366 Rota - CT2/3 & ACCS Junior Anaesthetist

Works with 1220 and the theatre 12 consultant in adult emergency theatres. When on-call you will hold the 1366 bleep and are usually based in Theatre 12 for the day.

A list of patients booked for the emergency list can be found in Theatre 12. From this you can see who requires pre-assessment - during the day it is easy to manage this whilst other cases are on the table; overnight it is a good idea to try and see a few patients before midnight, if not it is often easy to see them between 06:30 and 07:30

Out of hours you will be responsible for pain calls - the pain nurses will bleep for a handover at 07:30 and 17:30 and will also leave a handover list in the trainees' office. Note patients may move from HDU/ITU (4E/F) at the weekend, they may then need a review by you once on the ward.

Whilst 1366 is a very well supported role, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with the departmental guidelines for some common major emergency cases that can take place out of hours - e.g. Renal Transplant as you may have distant supervision at times in the event of a simultaneous code red. These guidelines are available on Box.

Once you have your obstetric competencies, it is possible to liaise with the Obstetric Consultant and 1326 and swap bleeps for the evening shift if you feel you need more experience in this area.
