Cerebral/spinal angiogram
No new medication pre-procedure.
Patients take all their medication on the day of the procedure.
Patients on warfarin will need to be converted onto LMWH for the week prior to the procedure, recommencing the day afterwards.
Cerebral aneurysm embolisation (+/- balloon assistance)
Patients to take 5mg prasugrel for one week prior to the procedure.
Patients to withhold antihypertensives on the day of the procedure.
Patients on warfarin will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
Cerebral aneurysm embolisation (including intracranial stenting and intrasaccular device)
Patients to take 5mg prasugrel and 75mg aspirin for one week prior to the procedure.
Patients to withhold antihypertensives on the day of the procedure.
Patients on warfarin will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
Cerebral / spinal AVM embolization
No new medication pre-procedure.
Patients take all their medication on the day of the procedure.
Patients on warfarin will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
Patients are to be warned of a short steroid course post-procedure.
Facial lymphovenous malformation
No new medication pre-procedure.
Patients will require lung function tests during preadmission.
Patients on warfarin will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
Vertebroplasty / spinal injections
No new medication pre-procedure.
Patients on any blood-thinning agents will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
